My dad, Jesse W. Ridge, was always restless; he could never sit still for long. While I can sit for hours, it’s my mind that’s always restless. It seems to jump from serious subject to mindless pursuit as quickly as my indoor cat Nicholas used to escape out the back door. Like Nicholas, it sometimes finds itself up a tree wondering how it got there …and wondering how to get down.
Just who does she think she is, anyway?
Am I my name, my citizenship, my religion, my sexuality, my skills, my likes and dislikes, my … whatever? I’m all of those things, just as you are. But isn’t that an oversimplistic way of describing ourselves?
If you’re anything like me, you think most everyone’s life looks more interesting, more fun, easier, and more fulfilling than your own. Learning about others’ lives has always fascinated me. I’ve had, shall we say, a somewhat nontraditional life path and have been told over the years that I should write about it. Well, here goes. In my blog posts you’ll find the good, the bad, and the ugly. But what I hope you really find is another imperfect soul just like you who wants to hear about your lives, your thoughts, and your reflections based on what I share with you.
I’m not an educated writer. There will be lots of room for improvement in everything you read, but please look beyond those shortcomings and share with me how what I’ve shared resonates with you.
